Run Sessions

Wednesday Evening  6:30pm – 7:30pm at Bedgebury Pinetum, Park Lane
Hill training and intervals,  for all ages and abilities.
Bedgebury trails are the ideal for autumn and winter evening running .   It is dark and head torches are required plus bright or reflective clothing like a high viz vest is recommended.   All running is away from the roads, please be careful when parking and  don’t block the entrance/exit for other users when meeting up.
We meet at the car park in Park Lane, which is as far down this road/track as you can go, see map below.

Saturday Morning  Parkrun 9:00am at the Bedgebury Pinetum,  Go Ape
This Parkrun is not run by the club but is well attended by many of the members.  The undulating 5km course is ideal for developing speed and stamina.  There are other opportunists to add more running and/or some mountain biking to your training session in the morning.

Sunday  6.45pm – 8.00pm – Weald Sports Centre, Cranbrook
This is primarily a technique session and we use the swim smooth method.  It is applicable for all levels from beginner to advanced, although this is primarily a technique session it can still be physically demanding.

We are trialling a new arrangement with the Sports Centre where we have two dedicated lanes.  The cost for the session is £5 this includes entry to the pool and the coaching, please pay this to us, not the centre.

We are also very lucky to be allowed to swim in the Cranbrook school pool on Tuesdays at 5:30pm to 6:30pm.  There is a charge of £5 for this session.   Then there is more training with a cycle ride and run from Cranbrook rugby club (see below).

Open Water Swimming
The open water swimming sessions are run between late April and October depending on the temperature of the water.

These sessions are held at the boating station at Newenden in the river Rother.  There are safety kayaks and bank support people with throw lines, plus the river in not very wide which makes this an excellent place to start open water swimming. The cafe offers tasty refreshments and members often enjoy a customary steaming post-swim drink, chatting about the session and other plans for the weekend.

Thursday evening 6:30pm to 7:30pm please be changed and ready to go at 6:30.  Wetsuits are required for this session and you need to check in with the coach before entering into the water.

Saturday morning 7:30am in the Newenden boating station car park for a prompt 7:40am start.  Again wetsuits are needed and to check in with the coach first.

In the winter months when it is dark this is a turbo session in the rugby club house, it is a 6.45 pm setup for a 7.00 start until about 8.00pm.  All levels welcome and we have a few club turbos that people can try before purchasing their own.

In the spring/summer months we ride on the roads normally a short ride between 20-30km there are 2 to 3 groups depending on speed.  This is followed by an optional brick session available (run after cycling) so bring all bike kit and running kit.
